Anthropic has introduced Claude Duet, a new AI agent app designed to help professionals and small businesses automate and manage tasks, positioning it against rivals such as Meta Muse, OpenAI Dots, Hark, Instinct, Grok Bot and Fo.
The company said Duet differs from personal agents like Instinct, noting it is not suited to running errands or booking tickets and does not display its browser activity in real time. Instead, it can produce daily briefings, build dashboards and suggest actions based on a user’s data. It runs tasks in the background on its own virtual machine and returns for approval when needed, proactively offering recommendations as it monitors ongoing work.
Built on Claude Opus 5.5, Duet connects to more than 6,000 connectors and plug-ins in the Claude Marketplace and can make purchases through Stripe’s Link wallet or Shopify’s Shop Pay, with payments requiring user approval. It will not trade securities or move money between accounts. Anthropic also released a classifier that screens messages to prevent sensitive data leaks, and the agent declines requests for credit card numbers or government IDs by default.
Duet is available in research preview on iOS, Android and the web for Pro and Max subscribers via a waitlist.
