Blacksmith, a platform that helps companies build and test software more efficiently, including code generated by AI, has secured a $66 million Series C round led by Sequoia, valuing the company at $1 billion.
The company focuses on continuous integration, the process of building, testing, merging and validating code changes. Co-founder and CEO Aditya Jayaprakash said Blacksmith was created to make this process less painful. In a blog post, he said most companies are struggling to keep pace with the volume of CI they need to run, particularly as AI writes a growing share of code. He added that as AI agents produce more of the world’s software, the key question becomes whether that code can be trusted.
Blacksmith said its annual recurring revenue has grown 17 times and that it has run more than 90 million CI jobs, or individual automated code checks. Customers include fintech company Mercury and AI note-taking app Granola.
The funding arrives just two months after a $45 million Series B that valued the company at $550 million. A year ago, Blacksmith was valued at $60 million following a $10 million Series A. The company has now raised $125 million in total.
